Environmental/tax payer cost is big up front and then another whack when our vehicles rot away. What would happen if we just slowed down or stayed home after storms? Am I missing something?

What sort of compressor size is necessary to apply the fluid film? I'd imagine it would have to be a few horse power for such thick material.....

Would of been good if you could of driven down a dusty gravel road right after the application of the stuff. The dust mixed with the oil would be perfect. I don't know if you have the same kind of gravel road's there as I do here where I live. Our gravel roads are the color of that product you sprayed and on a dry summer day the dust hangs in the air for 5 minutes.

What I love is that it's work equipment/vehicles and he treats them as such. Some practical maintenance and don't worry about little scuffs too much.
I wonder though. Shouldn't you get rid of the rust first, before covering it up again? I've always been taught that you might as well not cover it if there's still some on there, that it actually worsens it, cause it's "trapped". Unless the stuff you used takes care of oxidation?

Penetrol is by far the very best product you can use!... iv'e used it several times, when applied to rusted (or painted) surfaces it forms a seal that stops rust dead in it's tracks... iv'e used it on the inside of a painted bin trailer (applied penetrol over the top of the existing paint, as a barrier) and with garden cuttings etc left inside the bin for up to 12 months going rotten, the inside paintwork would be fine when the bin was emptied out. Use it as a primer, sealer, undercoat, top coat, paint over the top of it, use it to alleviate brush strokes and aid flow in enamel paint etc etc etc. Do a Google search and find out for yourself how highly regarded it is, and how many various uses it has, it's no gimmick! ... Penetrol

Andrew- a tip from some farmers on YouTube, you also move a lot of equipment around the yard working on it- to make that easier, drill a hole in one tongue of your forklift forks, throw a ball hitch in it when you need to move a trailer around or similar...

Brian Sumner

The real problem is the spotwelded seams in trucks and cars. This is where the salt will destroy the seam. The frame will prob never rust but the seams sure will.
Brian Sumner
Brian Sumner - 2 måneder siden
Andrew, I'm not a fan of undercoating. I prefer oiling and I get both my trucks oiled religiously every year in November before the snow and salt come. My 2000 Silverado is showing no rust cuz it's been oiled every year even tho it is driven all winter.

Completely unnecessary is right. I work for a city and these people are absolutely fools with the salt. So much wasted time, energy and money. Not to mention the destruction it causes to the roads and vehicles. These idiots were out salting and plowing when it was raining back in March. Literally had plow blades on the roads that were just wet. All to get them overtime pay checks.

And this, kiddies, is the reason that vehicles sold for use in Europe are all zinc-galvanised these days, after the British car industry produced a few complete rust-buckets over the years. Indeed about the only British car which wasn't an inveterate rust bucket was the Landrover, whose chassis were known to rust but since the bodywork was all aluminium (originally from war-surplus aircraft after World War 2) and the chassis could be replaced, this wasn't such a great problem.

Living in Germany I always wondered about the electric trailer brakes you usually see in the US. I am not even sure if they would be legal here, at the very least you never see them. Trailers here from a certain weight have to have brakes to be street legal here if I am not mistaken. Only for small trailers no brakes are allowed (Up to I think 750 kg, about 1650 lbs) Not sure if this is actually the legal limit, but about every car here has that limit in allowed trailer weight without brakes. Over that you either have to have surge brakes or mainly for larger trailers and thus commercial trucks, air brakes. And with truck I am not talking pick up trucks but about everything above 7.5 tons. Somehow the concept of electric trailer brakes vs. surge brakes seems to be unneccessarily complicated to me, requiring the additional brake controller in the towing vehicle, if you already add brakes to the trailer anyways. I think some campers and high end trailers may have electronically assisted brakes. meaning the trailer kind of has its own ESP to prevent swaying etc., but thats all about it.

Hi, I will give you a better formula. You put 1/4 unused motor oil. Any type of car oil works. And for every 1/4 of oil you add 2 gallons of gasoline ... It sounds like Diesel but homemade. You spray that under your cars and you'll see how it protects from everything. Thanks
