If you think it’s tough with the welding comments to get information, go to the diesel truck websites. Everyone is an expert in their own minds and contradictions are everywhere.

Real Good production quality in your videos. Good pacing, audio always clear, camera placement optimizes clarity for the audience, and of course, you have the knowledge AND the patience to splain things people need to understand.
Now, If you start doing animation... well, good luck. If I had known at 20 what a bizarre industry it is... I'm sure I would have plunged into it anyway.

But you're welding for Strength, reliability and Safety, not for an Art Class. You've managed to convey a Heck of a lot of information. I first went to a neighbor who had offered to introduce me to welding. He was building a gate with some old rusty painted scrap 1" angle iron. Seemed a little primitive to me, but it was just a half hour of my time. The next week I signed up for a class with a pro offered by the local high school.
I came to see the first guy had never apparently talked to anyone or read about actual real welding... things like goggle/helmet/eye/ safety, prepping the metal surfaces w a wire brush, clamping the work, selection of the weld rods, cleaning the slag, and on and on... I'm really glad I went for the class! Fall through spring. Definitely good to learn standard safe fundamentals, not just improvising and guessing.

I have been watching your videos and they have inspired me to give welding a try. I am Joe home owner in my 60s. Is there a model- brand you would recommend? Is Harbor Freight good enough or would you stay away. Would you purchase said unit at a shop that only sells welding equipment? Thanks

Does it matter how much rust is on the surfaces? Some of those pieces of metal seemed pretty rusty but I guess that doesn't really matter?

At 16:44: AC meant to say "highly pressurized water" not "highly compressed [sic] water". Even in oceans at 4 km depth, where the pressure is 400 atm, water suffers only a 1.8% decrease in volume.

I think this videography style has brought a lot to the table. I think if the camera was used with a gimbal it was eliminate a lot of the shaking most people that want then tripod back are complaining about while also bringing your videos up to a higher standard. I get you can’t take a film crew to a job site, but around the shop I think it has a lot of potential

Your mig will weld 1 inch metals it’s just how you prep it, like beveling the material! You can tig any metal, just saying! I’ve had to stick some stainless rods because after a while they suck up moisture and you have to stick them to dry them out!

You know another huge cause of porosity and inclusions in welds? Paint, rust, oil and contaminants. Something I have watched you intentionally leave on any weld you do. Rust piece of angle iron welding to a triple painted part? You do you bud and weld that up. Skip the small steps of buffing that stuff firsthand and you get to do all those fixes again when you have shitty welds break when for the most part they should be stronger then the parent steel... it makes me cringe every time you weld

I love a 7018 welding rod in my opinion that is one of the best all around welding rods, and I learned my welding from my brother. :-) That is a registered nuclear pipe welder worked for Pratt & Whitney subcontracting for many years.

And he always said a 7018 welding rod is one of the best for all around welding so there you are for credentials, all the people who comment a about this type of welding rod :-) excellent choice on welding rod Andrew you will never go wrong with a 7018 welding rod

A million years ago, I had a 1986 Grandwagoneer, a home made off-road trailer with matching tires and wheels. The trailer was custom made to carry a welder generator, wire welder, ladders and scaffolding and such. It was a 100% mobile welding business designed to get to places most people could not get to. Most of my heavy work was stick with 150’ lead, I did not have the ability to hoist up my heavy wire welder so it usually did the work I could drive up next to. Made a lot of money on small jobs with my cheap, light weight, light duty 110 wire welder that I had to fix often, but it didn’t matter as it didn’t take long and it was easy, for me, to fix the problems. Great job on the video!

Okay I watched this attentively and I've got to say I like @Fitzsimons94 video style, and I see his use of jumpcutting ♥. However....that is probably *not* why the majority of people are attracted to Andrew's channel. They love that guerrilla style videography and I do too.. It shows an honesty no longer commonly seen on Youtube and Media and when presented with seeing Andrew's life in a new way through Fitz's eyes instead of andrew's own.. it kinda grinds against how we've come to know andrew on this side of the screen or at least seems unusual.
But on that flip side, the new perspective shots are awesome, I loved those slow motion shots, I loved the lead up voice overs on some establishing shots, Fitz still presented andrew's life right, the lighting was bomb as hell in some segments and it really reminded me of early "This Old House" episodes.
